| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked on the south side of Rt. 101 where the MSG crosses the road (not signed on the south side). There's a short bit of dirt road before a gate. This was unplowed, so AWD or 4WD is required. We got in and out with the trusty Forester. 2WD cars might have a problem. |

| Comments: |
A short snowshoe excursion along the MSG from Rt. 101 to Howe Reservoir Dam and back. The recent storm left a few inches of new snow, which was perfect for this outing. The MSG rambles and rolls along old woods roads with no steep sections through open, attractive woods. Along the way we stopped for a break at Spiltoir Shelter, very cozy! Howe Reservoir looked to be frozen solid, but we didn't test it too much. The spillway at the dam was raging! |
