Comments
Comments: From the parking lot kiosk we followed the sign that read East Side Trails to the Ridge Trail (we did this for fun instead of heading straight up Spring Road, some logging going on along the trail interesting), we followed the Ridge Trail until it met Spring Road at the old Gearry Cemetery (nice) and then followed the road (left) south a short distance until we hit a junction of the Ridge Trail. We continued on the Ridge Trail from here to the Monroe Hill Trail. The tower where these trail meet.My friend laughed when she saw the tower because she was expecting to see a fire tower like Craney Hill, ha ha! This little stand offers a nice view of Crotched and we could see a white ribbon of man-made snow streaking the mountain and a few other smaller peaks. Nice walk, easy grades. We continued on the Monroe Hill Trail and when the trail reaches the stonewall, trees are blazed blue along wall, this is the northern boundary of the forest. We jumped the wall and did a little bushwhacking to reach the top of the hill. There is a private home on the high point, we went as far as we dared so not disturb the nice landowners that haven't put up any keep out signs. Saw lots of moose poo during our short bushwhack. On way back we went straight down Spring Road.
