Comments
Comments: the forest road is likely a bit grown in during the summer, but nice walking today. we followed it through a large clearing and continued as it wrapped around the north side of lonsesome ridge. where it began to descend we took a line on the summit and headed off into open woods. a couple false bumps before the highpoint. good firetower artifacts including guy wires, what looks to be part of the cab roof and various metal cans, etc. most interesting are the old footings which show the tower posts went into the ground and were cememented in rather than being bolted to an exposed footing like many others. we headed back out the same way. todays hike completes the nh firetower list for me. lots of fun and interesting places to visit.
