I needed some time in the alpine zone today and Mt. Moosilauke fit the bill perfectly. This was originally going to be a solo trek, but I ran into some hikerfolk I know at the Glencliff trailhead and they invited me to join in.
This was my first time on GT without snow, it's rocky and rough higher up, but nothing crazy. The trail was mostly dry. Some patches of ice and snow along CR, but nothing that warranted traction. The most ice we saw all day was on the SPS, where it's starting to form in-between the rocks, but there are enough bare rocks where it's not a problem at the moment. Million dollar views today with bright blue skies and not too cold. We hung out on top for about 45 minutes for lunch and relaxation. Lots of folks approaching the summit from all directions today.
Thanks to Li, Barbara, Claire and Tim for a great day out! |
