Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Valley View Trail is NOT a dog friendly trail. Very steep up and down, rock jumbles with lots of edges (not good flat spots to land) and porcupines. Know your dog well if you do this trail. All the others are excellent dog trails.

Comments
Comments: A great day for red-lining. Karen did and out and back on Round Pond-Piper Link then the three of us did the rest of the trails. Valley View has outstanding valley views, but you will work to get them. We did it clockwise but it would be a challenge either way. By far the toughest trail in the Belknaps. I would only do this if the trail was dry. Even with rain a few days ago there were lots of places with wet rocks and moss or the really slippery red algae/slime. Coming back up was fun but challenging as we scaled the rock field to get back to Vista Trail. Huge porcupine popped out and from the looks of the rocks and scat this is prime habitat. All other trails were easy though the Whiteface-Piper Link down to Whiteface Trail is ledgy and could be an issue if wet or icy. Great views from many spots today. Awesome day out with Karen and Steve.
