Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Doublehead Mountain, Mt. Squam , NH
Trails
Trails: Crawford Ridgepole Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, August 24, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Sandwich Notch Road would be a challenge without some ground clearance. There isn't really a parking but room for a couple of cars on the side of the road near the trail sign.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No significant water
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown that we bushwhacked around. The trail markings are faded and covered so it's hard to follow the trail if you aren't familiar with it. The mud bridges are broken and unusable but the mud was avoidable for the most part.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There wasn't much water available for the dog to hydrate and or cool himself in so we had to moderate our speed and distance. Less than 1/2 mile in from the road there is a scramble that I had to hoist assist my 100 lb dog up, a smaller dog could be lifted.
Bugs
Bugs: Just a few flies.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: One section where the trail merges with a runoff stream was hard to follow as the trail turns up to the left and up and the only marker was blocked by the brim of my hat.
