Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were running low today, some rocks have slick moss on them, watch out! Didn't need to take the cable car on Yellow Trail, but I did anyway.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple of stepovers and brushy sections on Middle Mountain Trail. Watch the blazes on upper Gates Brook, before it pops out onto the road, there is a right turn that can be easily missed if you're not paying attention.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not a lot of water right now, would bring extra.
Bugs
Bugs: A bit annoying in the morning, but once up on the ridge, they weren't bothersome at all.

Comments
Comments: Changed my plan mid-roadwalk, and ended up finishing off the Mahoosuc Region of the White Mountain Guide. Went up Peabody Brook to Middle Mountain Trail, and took that over to Gates Brook. Down Gates Brook to Yellow Trail, taking that over Mt. Crag, and out and back to the junction with Scudder, and down to the Austin Brook trailhead, where I walked to the start of Gates Brook. Took the entire length of Gates Brook to Austin Brook, then took that to the Mahoosuc Trail. Was on the AT the rest of the day, except for the Trident Col spur.

It was definitely a warm day, but not nearly as warm as it has been most of the last week. Ran out of water at Page Pond, and filtered another 3 liters from there, not bad. Glad to get these trails taken care of! Now only two AT sections remain (Webster Cliff from 302 to Webster, and Madison Gulf Trail from Great Gulf to Low's Bald Spot), and 49.8 miles are left to finish the White Mountain Guide!
