room for maybe one car to park at the start of the gated road/trail east of the height of land on alton mountain road without blocking the gate. no mention of the trail name at the gate that we noted. |

the road was dry and a bit overgrown in places. lots of fresh bear sign including tracks and poop. the trail meets the loop trail from avery hill road just short of the great north viewpoint. a little hazy, but very nice views. would be a great sunset spot. |
