Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several, varying in widths; the one of most note is the first one, immediately before a second, easier water crossing and the junction with the Carrigain Notch Trail. This first crossing has no visible way of making a dry crossing, so prepare to get wet or to remove your socks and shoes to continue on. There is a third crossing of note, but please see Trail Maintenance Notes.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two large blowdowns offered issues while hiking the trail. The third river crossing, immediately before the junction with the Notch Trail, is blocked off by a large, fallen tree. The second tree was further up the trail, but I managed to move it safely off to the side. Some drainage issues were also found, leaving standing water in some sections.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one dog on the way up, seemed to be managing just fine.
Bugs
Bugs: TERRIBLE. Pack bug spray, and be brisk on your walk through the damper sections of the trail.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found what appeared to be a bag draped over dogs while they hike; please remember that the woods are not a redemption center; take your trash, belongings, bags, etc., out while you hike. #NoTrace

Comments
Comments: Beautiful hike with a friend from work. Lived up to it's difficult rating, but the struggle up was worth the amazing sights at the top of Signal Ridge and Mount Carrigain. Take your time on this hike: there are plenty of beautiful things to see around you, to help in setting a solid pace. Reaching the summit of Signal Ridge, with just a few hundred more feet between you and the true summit of Carrigain, may seem like a tease, but be sure to truly soak in the vistas around you; truly some of the greatest that the Whites have to offer.
