| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lincoln Woods lot was packed at 8:30 am, but we were lucky to get a spot when someone left. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water shoes were very helpful, wading knee deep or more was needed at the first crossing on Lincoln Brook Trail. Other crossings could be done by rock hopping with waterproof boots. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trails were easy to follow, with some extra care needed at the brook crossings to follow the trail on the other side (instead of a bushwack). There is a pile of rocks against a tree marking the Owl's Head Path turnoff. The herd path at the top of Owl's Head was well trodden all the way to the true summit, which was marked by larger pile of rocks than the false summit a couple tenths of a mile before. |

Be prepared for mosquitoes and black flies on this hike, especially near wet areas and at the summit. |

| Comments: |
Total hike time was 10 hours, breaks and crossings included, at a moderate to quick pace. The description of the Owl's Head Path location given in the AMC W.M. Guide book was a little confusing, because there is also a pile of mossy boulders to the south of the Path turnoff (the guide mentions one north of the turnoff). Note that you cannot see the "slide" part of the path from the turnoff, rather it is all wooded for some distance. |
