Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two major crossings were easily done with tevas on. Water temps were nice and felt good on this hot day. Kept tevas on between with no issues. The tributaries and final crossing of Lincoln brook were all rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of old blow downs starting on Franconia brook trail. The biggest ones were easy enough to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Tons of water down low but I'd bring some up for the actual climb, dried up quickly.
Bugs
Bugs: None until I started the black pond bushwhack where I was followed all the way back to the car.

Comments
Comments: Started the day early and made quick work of the hike till the first big crossing. Stopped, put on water shoes, and waded both crossings leaving the shoes on between. The flow gauge today was 279 and it was very comfortable to get across safely without searching for a route. After the crossings things stayed pretty wet for the slog out to owls head path. Very obvious cairns/clues etc on where it starts, pretty hard to miss. Now the hike starts. The slide was nice and dry but decided pretty quickly I wasn't about to go down it solo on a Tuesday. Very loose rock/gravel. The ridge was snow free except for an 8 foot section right before the new summit which will be gone by the weekend. I opted for the Brutus bushwhack off the mountain which is hardly a whack at this point and more of a faint trail, didn't use the compass once. Very easy descent. Had the bright idea to "save some time" and go
for the Black Pond whack and was quickly swarmed with flies. Also if you do a good work with your compass you are rewarded with a swamp at the north end of the pond. Skip that till fall. All in all a great day.
