Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The parking area now has two port-o-potties and two bear-proof trash receptacles -- I don't remember those being there last year. Cool. We were the first car there at 7am. The lot was full when we returned around 1pm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail's in great shape. One climb-over blowdown on the way up Osceola (from Tripoli Road).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Max needed more water today than the few natural opportunities provided. Always good to have extra water for the pups. Also, Max (border terrier) needed a boost up the chimney bypass. Saw one gorgeous, very friendly golden retriever with his/her owner on the way up as we were coming down. The fellow/gal seemed like a very happy camper.
Bugs
Bugs: Buzzing about, but only got bitten twice.

Comments
Comments: We opted for the bypass instead of the chimney, since the chimney's rocks were too wet and slick for my comfort level (it rained last night).

Had the trail to ourselves until we were a third of the way down Osceola and heading back to our car at Tripoli Road. Quite a few folks were on their way up during the late morning. All looked happy to be out there.

Saw one father with his three- or four-year old daughter. She was smiling ear-to-ear and having a blast. The dad had a backpack-carrier for when she got tired. The two of them looked awesome, that made my day. They were a bit more than halfway up the trail when I saw them. Hope they made the summit.

Will have a trip report on my blog late Thursday evening, after I post the one for Sunday's trip up Moosilauke.
