Comments
Comments: this report is for the officially unnamed 2,032' peak northwest and across success pond road from mt. success. the name henry hill is derived from a sign marking a road on the southeast side of the peak.
after hiking north bald cap earlier in the day (see report by rocket21) i wanted to check out something else along success pond road so gave this peak a shot. the walk up the road around to the northeast side of the peak was nice with great views back to goose eye and the profile of mahoosuc notch. where the road forked northeast of the peaks i turned left and soon jumped a moose that was in the thick growth along the side of the road. i never saw it given the thick vegetation, but it was close enough to feel its foot falls as it ran away. i shortly reached another split with the peak right in front of me so i hit the woods finding a mix of regrowth hardwood and pricker filled skid roads up to the broad summit area. there are a couple spots that feel like they could be the highest point, but it is hard to gauge. it's worth poking around anyway to get the different views from the heavily logged summit to the surrounding peaks. there is a recognized point in a stand of trees roughly near where the spot elevation is on the usgs. i headed back down along roughly the same route enjoying more great views to the mahoosucs on the walk out.
