Excellent hiking conditions, helped by perfect weather. A bit of standing water in the lower third of the trail, but nothing out of the ordinary. As we got to higher elevations, we encountered four or five stretches of snow in the trail -- about a foot or so deep, but for the most part covered with mud or pine needles. The snow was firm, but you could get a foothold in it without falling through (post-holing). We had no trouble getting by simply with hiking boots and trekking poles. |
