We were in the area to look for artifacts from another tower site and decided to go and check out Lucias Lookout. Pillsbury State Park is still closed for the season, so the 9 mile trek ended up being more like 12 miles due to the gate being closed. We took the main road in, then bushwhacked to a geocache. From there we found the Balanced Rock Trail and followed it to the 5 Summers Trail. On to the Bear Pond Trail, up to the Monadnock Sunapee Greenway Trail. It was quite the hike out to the Lookout, but the views were worth it. We took the 5 Summers Trail back down to complete the loop.
Trail condition went from postholing snow to postholing earth, to dry condition and then back again. Five Summers Trail was in the worst shape compared to the other, but they were no picnic either.
We did post a video of our day for anyone interested in seeing the hike or trail conditions. Just click the link...
