Fun out and back but slow going up high. Woods dry and bare first half mile but rottten patches of snow and standing water was a nuance that was better than the last half mile of post holing. Been to this place many times on xc skis but never up the trail from Rte 16. Lots of snow on groomed xc ski trail made for easiest hiking of the day from the picnic table to the open vista above the ledge. Fun time, i knew what I was in store for during this hike but i wanted to go anyway. |
