Initial part of access road was plowed (up to ski jump access). Above that junction (trail goes left), at least three passes had been made by a snowcat in the past few days, but a good half foot had drifted over much of it. I found snowshoes to be ideal, but it looks like some had booted up to the tower without too much of a problem.
Beyond the tower (heading to the vista on the ridge south), snowshoes are a must. Someone barebooted and left quite a lot of postholes. Lots of drifts too. Snowpack appears to be about 3 feet, with drifts of 5 feet or more.
Was hoping for a sunrise with the forecasted clear skies, however it ended up being mostly cloudy. |
