Lincoln Woods Trail is mostly packed, so bare boots there. Black Pond Trail a bit choppy, but not enough snow for snowshoes. Black Pond Bushwhack was only 100 feet or so in before people had turned around. I tried using an upper route I had been on before, but didn't stay high enough and ended up going through a bad area in the end (don't follow the end of my route). A family of three was behind me and they eventually turned off lower (right) and came out in a better spot by the looks. They didn't have snowshoes and I didn't put mine on early enough. If a small group could break out the proper route that would help get it going for the winter. Part way up Lincoln Brook Trail I turned around. The time meant I would come out later than planned and my leg was already getting sore for some reason. Playing it safe I turned back using the trails. I should have just tried using the fisherman bushwhack or finding a better Black Pond route though. Lincoln Brook Trail has seen very little traffic and no snowshoes other than what I did. Not sure if the family used the slide or Brutus Bushwhack. |
