one person had broken out trail recently--thank you!--needed snowshoes from the start though as everything was still too soft and I was postholing with just spikes; due to warm weather much snow had melted over the course of yesterday and erased some of the tracks and/or iced the trail; loved my mountaineering snowshoes for getting great grip in complete icy sections; no problem ascending or descending; person who had broken out trail did not go to actual summit but turned around on the plateau right behind the cabin approx. .25mi from actual summit. It appeared nobody had been to summit since last snow precipitation as I was sinking in up to my knees whenever the trail was not frozen from the melting snow from yesterday. Lost trail once and did a little swerve (in case somebody is following me) but got to juncture sign and actual summit. Just like yesterday, above clouds blue sunny skies and warm temps; never even layered up at all during today's hike. |
