| Water Crossing Notes: |
On the hike up from the trailhead to the cairn there was not a flake of snow to be seen. However, between the hut an the shelter there was a LOT of black ice (in all the spots one really didn't want it), and a lot of slab ice. On the way up, I had to devote a lot of time and energy to placing my feet carefully. Snow started on the way down, and quickly covered the trail. Was able to hike down with microspikes.
Please be VERY CAREFUL. Between the hut and the shelter there is a lot of ice covered by a thin layer of snow. Microspikes are absolutely essential, and quite frankly, if you can hike something else, I would give this trail a pass this weekend to let it settle out a bit. |
