Most of the snow is gone but I'm sure will return with the incoming storm. The Ammmo was icy and boney so microspikes were useful on the ice and then not on the rocks. Slow travel required to ensure good footing. Above tree line the wind required slow travel to stay vertical. Poles helped. Not much snow left above tree line so I removed the micros for easier travel. 60+ mph winds on Mt Washington but since the temps were in the 30s it was still manageable. Decided to head down the Jewel to avoid the ice on the Ammo and keep the wind out of my face. Plan worked well. Jewel Trail was in good shape! |
