Comments
Comments: Hoping not to get rained on too badly, I set off for this hike, not realizing that my plan was flawed from the start. I could not find Elephant Rock, and Greeley Ledges are grown in from what I could tell. The Cascades were great, especially with the higher water conditions. Crossed Avalanche Brook tediously on slabs with fast flowing ankle deep water. Down Livermore Road, I turned up Kettles Path... and again, never found the Kettles. This is where it started raining. I found out the hard way that the lower 0.4 miles of Scaur Trail is now decommissioned, so headed up to the Scaur itself. Past it, I followed a new section of trail for a long while (at least 0.8 miles) on the relocated section of trail, until it started to drop steeply down, and I ran into a pile of gear under a tarp with some rock bars. So much for my plan! Back down Kettles Path, the rain continued, and I checked out Big Pines, before heading up Boulder Path (where the crossing of Cascade Brook was a knee deep wader).
