parked at the lot for pitcher mountain in stoddard and walked a short bit back west along 123 to the gated limerick road. posted against motorized use, but open to foot travel. |

limerick road was in great shape. it eventually splits and makes a loop. i headed to the right past a camp. shortly after the road begins to descend the lightly used trail to the summit leaves to the right following along a line of no hunting signs. i missed it on the way up and ended up bushwhacking to the summit and using it on the way down. the junction now has a cairn marking it just off the road. the trail is faint, but seems to follow the route of an old road and wasn't hard to follow once on it. i continued around the loop then retraced my steps back to 123.
nice short hike. very pretty woods on the slopes of hodgeman. got back to the car just before the rain started coming down hard. |
