| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
This trail very overgrown in many long sections. Just a very faint footbed with branches crossing over it. Very few blazes and logging road intersections are not always marked. Some blowdown, but not too bad. |

The north section of the three ponds trail is a bit tough to follow. This was especially the case on the return trip at dusk. I don't recommend this for night-time and I don't think I could find it in winter. Very close to the the forest protection area (three ponds shelter) you hit a T-intersection where you go right to stay on the main trail and left to go to a camp site. On the return, it was very hard to find the turn to stay on the main trail.
I got a great view of a bull moose with some interesting white markings on his legs and chest. As I admired him, another bull approached and they began a vocal confrontation, loudly grunting at one another. I observed timidly from a distance for 10min. wondering if they would lock antlers. No physical confrontation while I was there. I know that happens in the fall. Not sure how dangerous they can be to us. Cool site.
