An unbelievable day in the Northern pressies - up to Madison springs hut Friday and took the long way to Jefferson today. Sunny and warm with wind in spots especially on Jefferson where it was going 25-30 MPH but felt good with the temps today. Foliage was incredible and met too many people and dogs to count along the way. Airline between Randolph and Scar trail junction had some damp rocks. Randolph path between Israel and the Perch Junction had wet and slippery rocks that did require some careful foot placement to avoid slips. Took a break at spur brook to get some Water and after crossing heard a loud snort - not more than 10 feet from me down the trail was a bull moose! Spent some time staring at each other trying to figure what to do - he was kind enough to back down the trail and find a spot to turn around and headed to Pentdoi to find another trail to take. An awesome way to finish an awesome hike! |
