Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Nice parking lot, complete with outhouse. A note to inexperienced folks (yeah I know most of the readers of this site are not, but pass the word to the newbies and tourists) THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO GLEN ELLIS FALLS! Go under the highway for that.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Mostly tiny streams. The two that weren't - easy rock hops. Be sure not to miss the pretty cascade as you cross the stream right after the ski trail intersection.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Excellent.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any. This is a steep trail full of boulders. Make sure your dog likes this sort of thing before bringing him or her up.
Bugs
Bugs: Only 2 blackflies and one mosquito. I heard about their presence from Prema on the way home.

Comments
Comments: God bless all of you people who go to Isolation this way! With this straight up bouldery hike, I don't think I'd have the energy. We thought we could beat the afternoon weather up to the boulder, but the fog blew in as we reached treeline. I went up in my short sleeves, but the gloves, the hat, the sweater, and the fleece came out for our short stay at the boulder. One nice part of the trail is the brook that runs along side it for part of the way. About 10 feet off the trail there is a pretty cascade; then, a little further up you will cross the brook. When crossing look to your right (ascending) and there is another nice cascade.

Ironically, my appreciation of these lovely cascades lead me to perhaps give poor advice to someone on the way out. Two hikers, a young woman and man, were headed up. Did not seem to have the right items to do this hike, and there was no visibility anyway. I asked them if they were going to the boulder. They said no, they were looking for the falls. Dumb me told them all about these cascades, never thinking that they meant Glen Ellis. I asked if they were prepared for rain, wished them luck, went down the trail. Shortly after, I remembered her saying something about "It was only supposed to be a tenth of a mile away." "Oh s@#$, those poor people! How dumb could I be? She meant Glen Ellis!" So when I got to the car, I wrote a note and taped it to the back of the trail head sign, writing "THE FALLS"
in big letters. Yeah, I know it was a minor leave no trace violation (asked them to recycle the note on the bottom), but I felt bad for them. Hope they made it there!
