Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The five crossings of Rocky Branch were easy on rocks as the water levels were low today. These crossings are difficult during high water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition. Many blow downs have been cut and removed. There are still some fallen trees on the Isolation Trail uphill of the fifth brook crossing that require step over, straddle, or duck under. There is still a temporary sign for the Mt Isolation spur trail. The Rocky Branch Trail between shelter #1 and #2 is closed by the Forest Service due to damage by tropical storm Irene.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Many dogs on the trail. One Golden Labrador named Summit was friendly. There was another dog that growled and acted aggressive on three occasions. The owner of this dog restrained the dog and kept it under control. The trails are fine for dogs but you'll have to decide on the water crossings when the water is high.

Comments
Comments: Cloudy day with no views from the summit. Stopped by Shelter #2 on Rocky Branch and found it to be in poor condition. There are holes in the roof overhang. Tarps have been hung to keep out the elements. Small sections of the floor boards are missing. I am guessing this shelter will be removed soon.
I met Big Earl on the Davis Path and Jeff from Dover, NH on the Rocky Branch Trail.
