Comments
Comments: from the parking i followed tarlton road past the gate continuing past a snowmobile trail junction and bearing left at at least one fork. i had been keeping an eye out for the neville peak trail, but never saw it. i ran into a couple other hikers who said the road led all the way to neville so i stayed with it. eventually it became a rough and eroded jeep road before hitting the saddle between neville and nottingham levelling out to the open ledges on neville. i noted cairns that i assume led down the neville peak trail. from there i doubled back to the col and bushwhacked up towards nottingham. woods were mostly open up to a large area of ledges where i picked up an atv trail heading towards the summit. i went left (east) where that trail entered another more heavily used atv trail and was soon at the summit area where there is an old chimney and privy. once back at the col i headed back down the road to the car.

this is one of those semi local hikes that has been on my mind for a while. great to finally get up there. views from neville were great if a bit hazy today. nice looks to parker and blue job, the belknaps and nearby catamount and fort. interesting old infrastructure on the summit of nottingham and a cool old cellar hole off tarlton road as well. nice hike.
