Comments
Comments: An on-the-way-home hike today, I decided to finally check it out. The 1.4 miles up Walker Brook Road is very easy and quick going, but not too exciting. At the end, which looks like an overgrown cul-de-sac, look for a small cairn and surveyor's tape on the right. This is the start of the herd path. At what looks like it should be a water crossing, don't cross. Turn right and follow the herd path along the bank 0.2 mi. to the actual crossing. I read about a metal post from the plane that was used as a marker here, but I didn't see it. Look for a faded orange arrow spray painted on a tree. After the brook crossing, the unnamed trail follows it for a short while, then climbs steeply to the left away from it. After that, it's a moderate to steep climb up to the debris site, getting steeper as you get closer. Once there, you can't miss it. Be sure to wander all around the beaten paths to check out the wreckage, there's a lot up there. I also noticed a well-beaten trail coming into the site from the north. Not sure where that originates, but am curious.
