This well-cared for trail climbed steeply and steadily up through beautiful hardwood forest to the summit. On the summit was a standing firetower, ranger cabin and two picnic tables.
Of note: at the intersection of Rt. 109 & Rt. 153 was a historical marker and historical building where the first NH "Normal" School was created in 1820. Normal schools were designed to prepare high school graduates to become teachers, immersing them in the "norms" to do so - hence, "Normal School."
A lovely hike with Steve, Skipper, Karen & Ken. |
