Brilliant sunny day allowing a T-shirt almost all day, and requiring dark shades. A steady steam of skiers and mild celebratory atmosphere made for a nice contrast to usual few on trails. Skiers from summit and down Ravine seemed to have soft snow over ice crust; most doing very well. Tucks trail to Ravine base was slight wet snow over crust, but became much slushier in the pm. Up Ravine wall ice ax and crampons VERY helpful, as Geezer could pass skiers without. Lions Head winter REQUIRES ax/crampons.
Kestrel data at Ravine rim: T=36F W=8mph max WC= 28F min
Excellent day, excepting trip down LH winter.
After warm temps--who knows? |
