Comments
Comments: I do not describe monorails as stable or unstable, as I feel that their stability is more a function of the hiker, with or without snowshoes. That said, the hard packed snow footprint seems to be narrower than usual this spring, and the surrounding snowpack is now isothermal and just beginning to drop to the same level. But, the hard packed snow tread is now getting better defined by the BBPHers (bare-boot post-holers), who do not seem to mind dropping deeply into the soft snow on both sides of the hard pack; some of their plunges up to the crotch make me shudder.
