Two words of advice for Belknaps this weekend, snowshoes and rain jacket/shell (lots of snow on spruce trees will melt in warm sun). Other than gunstock mountain trail, this popular loop has seen no traffic recently, I broke through 4 to 12 inches and knee deep drifts. More than half the time there was no old trough visible. At least a 2 foot snow pack up high. Some parts of white trail and piper trail tough to follow in open switchback sections, but blazing is excellent so just look for confirmation. Beautiful views all the way to presi's and tree plastered in snow. Watch out for ice falling off the two towers, give it a wide berth!!!
And of course there were fresh coyote tracks on the piper trail for most of the descent!
