Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I took Caribou Pond Rd all the way to the gate. There are a few washouts, but easily passable in a truck, SUV or jeep. I even saw a VW Jetta in there the week before, but I'd advise against it.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several areas of run off water. All easy to rock hop. The Carrabassett River is easily crossed by rock hopping and a secure plank.

Dog-Related Notes: I saw two dogs on the trail. One SB through hiker and one other. A few tough spots for a dog, but they both got through them.

Comments
Comments: This was a good hike, though the view from Spaulding is limited. I did see a family on top of Sugarloaf with four young children, maybe 4-8. I was a surprised and assumed they came up the ski trails. Turns out the rode the quad. I bet that's a fantastic ride in the fall.
