| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Table Rock Trail is in great shape, couple step-overs. AT all the way to East Peak is also in good shape, with only a couple small blow-downs that could be stepped over. It rained the night before, which I'm sure made it worse than normal, but there was some significant mud in the col between peaks. At one point, I stepped in mud and my foot disappeared to my shin before I could get it out. Bit of a gooshy walk after that. |

Really great day for a hike, low clouds covered Old Speck and Baldpate early, but burned off before the summit. Views from East are fantastic. Despite it's steepness, the descent down West back to the road is pretty easy on the knees thanks to the many stone steps. Met a couple through hikers on their way to Georgia - good luck gentlemen. FYI, they are paving 26 right now, so expect minor delays. On the plus side, it's nice and smooth, which will be great this winter - it was pretty rough last year. |
