Peaks Albany Mountain, ME
Trails
Trails: Albany Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, May 27, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Southern trailhead on Birch Ave. Parking is where you can find it, or create it. Was able to pull off enough to keep the passage clear. A higher clearance vehicle could have gone a bit further where there was room for perhaps for 2 cars. Beyond that there is a fast moving brook crossing the road with a stone bed which a 4wd could have forded, then it isn't bad up to the gate.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One wet boot crossing near the start, the others easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Steady muck on the on the lower old logging roads from the recent rain. Not so much as the trail began climbing, but everything was wet. A fine assortment of blowdowns.

Comments
Comments: Trail is lightly used but blazed well enough to follow. Beautiful woods and a nice morning. A path marked with cairns leads around the West side of the summit with excellent views from ledges. This was the perfect spot for a holiday weekend. Saw no one at all.
