Comments
Comments: Easy hike up Fire Wardens trail to junction of AT between Avery and West where the snow began.
Soft snow with extensive existing (and new) postholes ;-)
Calf deep snow with unstable monorail/drifts from both the junction to Avery peak as well as to West peak.
We then continued across on the AT to the south Horns peak (very slow going, almost every step was a posthole in knee deep snow).
Snowshoes would have been helpful here as it lasted on and off for almost 3 miles (made the day long and tiring).
Snow didn't disappear until half way down Horns Ponds trail.
Easy out back to the car.
