Plenty of roadside parking at the "P" on the website map near Haskell Gate, which is a short drive from the Matagamon (North) Gate to BSP. |

|
|

No unbridged crossings. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Fine except for the Haskell Trail, which has a sign at its west end and blue blazes throughout, but has received no maintenance in at least a few years. Parts are overgrown and there are some major blowdowns. It appears (without being named) on the map posted on the KW&WNM website, but not on the maps posted at trailheads, which looked new. |

| Comments: |
We much enjoyed our 7-mile loop, which was prompted by curiosity as to KW&WNM and our proximity, staying at Trout Brook Farm Campground, near BSP's North Gate. The trails along the East Branch of the Penobscot took us to many attractive riverside vistas, especially around Haskell Hut, which looks like a great place for a stay. The NPS seems to have been busy in this north section, as we saw many trail signs. Not many other people around. |
