Date of Hike: Sunday, July 3, 2016

Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot (north trailhead) was half full mid-afternoon.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Old beaver dam crossing was a little tricky due to some mud/puddling. Minor brook crossing higher up was an easy rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The first half of this trail has been beautifully repaired and improved by its dedicated volunteer maintainer. I wish more mountain trails in the WMNF were this well done.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Occasional deer flies down low, but otherwise minimal (perhaps due to wind).

Comments
Comments: The lower half of the northern approach of Albany Mountain Trail is a very nice walk, thanks to all of the trail work done on it over the years. Where as extended portions were a muddy mess, much of the footbed has been repaired and good drainage installed. A very underrated peak (I didn't have time this afternoon, but the path to the southern ledges is well worth the minimal effort).
