Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Camden Hills State Park is unique in that there is parking close to every major trailhead. Before you go check the map on their website. For my loop hike I parked in the route 52 - carriage road parking lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings have bridges. Very easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I noticed a little erosion on the top of the slope trail, otherwise the trails are in great shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Very dog friendly, tablelands might be a little rough, otherwise soft forest floor. On the hike, I saw only two water crossings, one on the carriage trail, the other at the bottom of the slope trail. Otherwise all streams are dry. Definitely bring as much water as you can carry. I went through 4 liters myself. The water that was available was murky and would need to be boiled, filtered or treated with iodine.
Bugs
Bugs: Late afternoon they were swarming and biting, so much I had to use bug spray. They have awaken.

Comments
Comments: Went back to Camden Hills State Park and decided to hike the park from the bottom boundary to close to the top. This route starts at the Carriage Trail parking lot, follows Carriage/Tablelands/Ridge trails to the summit of Mt. Megunticook. Afterwards take the Slope Trail to the multi-use trail, then the Frohock Mtn Trail to the summit of Frohock Mtn. Return the same route. Challenging endurance hike, total distance maybe 16-17 miles. Frohock, Derry Mtn do not have views so this is a fun walk in the woods kind of hike. The view from Mt. Megunticook is stunning as usual, worth the pain.
