Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot at Sieur de Monts Spring off Rte 3 after you pass Jackson Laboratory coming from downtown Bar Harbor; room for 20+ cars today - got the last spot at 12:30 PM with many cars arriving after us, inside Acadia so you'll need a park pass. Shuttles not running until 6/23 meaning our trip required a cab ride back.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None without a bridge to cross
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All in great shape, one stepover on bubble and jordans pond path before it crosses the Carriage road. Some of the bog bridges on Canon Brook trail are fairly deteriorated after you're off the steeps.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Leashes are required; Much of this route is canine friendly though there are three very steep sections that might prove difficult for some - heading down from Dorr on the Cadillac Dorr connector, the immediate steep section heading up out of the gorge to Cadillac on the gorge path, the steep section heading down the Canon brook trail towards Jordan from the featherbed - some may prefer the gentler routes up these summits for their canines.
Bugs
Bugs: Out and biting - bug spray very useful!

Comments
Comments: Opted for a traverse over Dorr and Cadillac mountains starting at Sieur de monts spring and ending up at Jordan pond; a little over 6 miles with some fun up and down steep sections and nice ridge walking. To get to the Hemlock trail head to the right from the visitor center at Sieur de monts heading down what is technically hemlock road pass the trailhead to Homan's path - about .5 mile to the Hemlock trail proper leaving on the left. Route from here to top of Dorr in an easy and dry way up only a little water on Hemlock, summit is .1 mile past the trail junction on top of Dorr. Steep descent down into the gorge and steep ascent out of gorge towards Cadillac require some scrambling, easy walk down Cadillac on the south ridge trail leads to the other steep descent on this route down the Canon brook trail; along with a lot of rock hopping in this section. On this descent we found the some slippery rocks resulting in a fall so watch your step. An easy walk after the steeps over to Jordan Pond. Lots of hiking traffic up to the summit of Cadillac (which was packed with visitirs as usual) but much less on our descent. Started in the fog which broke as we reached the summit of Dorr, stayed in the sun until heading down the Cadillac south ridge trail where we headed back into a cloud layer lasting all the way to Jordan pond. Had to cab it back to the car form Jordan pond; come 6/23 shuttles will make these long traverses a lot easier!
