Trails
Trails: Evergreen Link, Cold Brook Trail, Red Rock Trail, road walk
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 4, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I asked for and received permission to park at Evergreen Valley Inn. There were no signs for the snowmobile lot mentioned in the Guide.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None; a snowmobile bridge crosses Cold Brook.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All in great shape except the lower section of the Cold Brook Trail. Only the top half-mile or so ir really a "trail," and as others have noted, one short bit of that has been disrupted by logging, although it is still easy to follow. Below, it is a maze of snowmobile roads, and I would have had to guess a few times if my Garmin map hadn't included this one. The Evergreen Link is vastly better.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Remarkably few, save some pesky deer flies at the Speckled summit and mosquitoes on the benighted lower section of the Cold Brook Trail, at the end.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:

Comments
Comments: The ascent by ledges to Speckled by the upper Cold Brook Trail is great.
