Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Following Lily Bay Road out to Kokadjo, once the going turns dirt, take the left fork, then the next left fork on Spencer Bay Road. Take a right at the next major junction. On this stretch, ignore the right fork with the little sign saying "Little Spencer South". Parking is roadside by the trailhead (no pullout), which is on the right, and quite obscure. I passed by it twice! If you reach the next major junction, you've gone too far. You can see the mountain as you approach, so that helps matters. I don't have more specific instructions, but there have to be better ones found online than what I found (or can provide).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in generally good shape, though it has no markings, and a handful of cairns in open areas. Flagging marks the way for the most part. A few stepovers to negotiate.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I wouldn't recommend this trail for dogs, the chimney section being particularly treacherous.
Bugs
Bugs: Not out much when I started, pretty hungry when I got back to the road.

Comments
Comments: Once I found the trail, this hike was a doozy... and this is apparently the easiest way the good doctor Richard A. Manson found up the mountain! The chimney puts the Osceola chimney to shame, with ropes (which you're going to want to use), and difficult going (up and especially down). Steep going throughout, with several sections of tedious rock hopping while crossing some of the talus slopes. Great views from various ledges below and around the summit area. A good start (excepting the driving!) to my Moosehead excursion!
