Comments
Comments: First half of the trail was easy and mostly dry. As we started getting into the second half, we started to see patches of ice, and thought they were a cute reminder of winter. As we continued on, we ran into hikers coming down that said they had to turn back due to ice. As we progressed, we ran into some pretty heavy ice on the trail. We didn't bring any traction aids, but decided to battle our way through it. Using a lot of handholds, and careful placement of our feet, we were able to negotiate the trail and reach the summit, although it took us much longer than it should have. Summit was beautfiul and clear, great views. Hike down was very treacherous, and at times it was easier to slide down on my butt, even though I got soaked. Would have been easier to go off trail, but the trees and brush were pretty heavy in some areas, which would have been equally difficult. Great hike despite the adversity.
