Comments
Comments: One of the best ways to reach Speckled. A nice series of view ledges before you reach the summit give you wide ranging views of Maine and into NH and of course the views from the summit are second to none. It also provides a lot of privacy as it doesn't get the use of trails from the Evans notch side. Perfectly sunny day and perfect temps made this the choice for the day - short sleeves and shorts were the wear of choice. Trail is nice and dry with a few spots of mud that can be avoided and a few spots of wet rock that won't really slow you down. Only the smallest traces of snow just below the summit means this is an officially snow free trail. Trail is easy going and never gets too steep. Only met one other hiking today descending and we had the summit to ourselves for 45 minutes to enjoy the views and lay out in the sun.
