Comments
Comments: As with other trails, ice is the most common trail condition! Until the next snow, traction is a must and something with bite - hillsounds worked for us heading up but micros and yax trax may not be enough based on what others were telling us. My hillsound pros wouldn't have been overkill in some spots.

For the first half on the snowmobile trail mix of packed snow, soft snow, ice, and a few bare patches. On this stretch one can avoid the ice but traction made for an easy ascent - above the second stream crossing the trail is virtually solid ice to the summit, lots of flow ice - we use hillsounds and we were able to make it up the ice without problems, met others barebooting and with microospikes and yax trax who all were having problems staying on the trail - the ice can be avoided but this is causing a new path to develop parallel to the trail. One couple we met opted to head up via the logging road rather than risking the ice. Heading down we opted to also use the logging road to speed our descent (crosses trail about little over 1/3 mile from summit - very obvious) - made things much easier - covered all the way down with a few inches of granulated snow - ran across the track of the couple opting to use it for their ascent about 1/2 down - guess they decided to turn around.

Did a quick check and based on trailhead conditions all trails on pleasant are going to be icy

Note that Bald Peak Trail has a new trailhead with a large parking lot.
