| Comments: |
Significant ice even on the trail ascending West Peak but manageable with microspikes/hillsounds. Most challenging ice spots were on the first part of descent from West Peak (ladders partially exposed) and then ascending the lower part of East Peak. We carried crampons and considered switching over but never did, even on the way back. The upper portion of East Peak was ice-free, bare rock, and we barebooted the final stretch to the summit, then put microspikes back on when we returned to the icy lower portion and kept them on until reaching the highway. |
