Comments
Comments: The snow depth on the Roost Trail was minimal, and patchy. Snowshoes would have been totally impractical. However, Microspikes were extremely useful since there were many steep and icy segments along the route.

Regarding the bushwhack to lower ledges at north end of Mt. Hastings, I wore Microspikes, but could just as easily barebooted the entire route. Snow depth was generally 4 inches or less, and the few icy spots could easily be worked around.
