Was able to drive all the way to the pond, wouldn't recommend the final section to anything other than a high clearance vehicle. Track is narrow and rocky, and the not so frozen mud puddles are DEEP. |

All easy hops, rocks had some snow on them, but weren't icy... yet. |

Other than a walk under on Fire Wardens before Moose Falls Campsite, and a couple of stepovers and a duck under on lower Horns Pond, trails all in good shape. |

With a clear forecast, I took off early from work and made the long drive to Carrabasset Valley. A dusting of snow down low, increasing to about a half inch on the ridge, some 2-3 inch drifts in spots. 9 degrees at the start, 31 when I returned, cold and blustery on the ridge, especially on the peaks. Some sections of ice on upper Fire Wardens, and on and between the peaks, some may want traction, but I never used it. Considering the last time I was here with no views, I got extremely fine ones this time around. Next time I do these, I think it will be a traverse, and I'll camp out... too much driving for one day! |
