Comments
Comments: Hike was on Saturday Nov. 14. First 4,000 footer in Maine for me! Late fall conditions still.

Weather notes: Flurries in the valley on the drive, but roads were clear. Cold and lightly snowing at the peak, in the clouds for the last mile or so.

Access notes: road and parking lot are in good shape. There is a fee collection canister at the trail head, but appears to be based on the honor system -- no envelopes.

Hike notes: dusting of snow over a lot of leaves at the bottom. Took Eyebrow going up, Old Speck all the way down. Eyebrow is in good shape, wet trail, might get a little icy if things get colder, but no issues for us. Interesting system of handrails and iron bars on the Eyebrow. Seemed a little unnecessary, but I enjoyed it! A couple of inches of new snow and some ice towards the top. Used light traction coming down and it was helpful, but passed a few groups doing fine with no traction. Climbed up the fire tower, but access at the top was blocked. No views.
